In a bid to general increase participation in football, The FA has provided funding for Hampshire based 5-a-side operator Pitch Invasion to launch 2 types of leagues this Autumn, continuing into 2014. The 2 types of leagues target the 16-19 year old sector and the workplace sector.

Selected County FA’s have been selected and specific venues identified for November rollout of the 16-19 year leagues. These venues currently have existing Pitch Invasion leagues enabling a sustainable exit route for teams wanting to continue. These dedicated leagues would be on the same day and run an hour earlier than the main Pitch Invasion league thus reducing the barrier of entry for weekly continuation.

The format would be a 5 week mini season with the first game at no cost to teams and reduced to half price for the 4 weeks after. The average Pitch Invasion match fee is around £30 per game so a 50% reduction should make the mini league attractive to players.

Where and When?

There are two participating venues in Leicestershire:

Loughborough
Charnwood College, Mondays at 6pm to 7pm

Leicester
Aylestone Leisure Centre, Mondays at 7pm to 8pm
