Champions and County League Round-Up: 4th October
Sunday Champions League
Group A
Sporting Dynamo 5 - 1 Frolesworth United
Sporting Dynamo were another side to bounce back from defeat, beating Frolesworth United at home following an away defeat to Star & Garter last time out. Frolesworth won 10-1 in their last fixture in the league, so may have been surprised at the score-line of this tie.
Group B
Quorn Royals 8 - 1 Fosse City
Quorn Royals sealed an emphatic 8-1 victory against Fosse City to secure themselves all three points. The win will surely boost the Royals’ confidence following their 5-0 defeat against Creation Builders.
Six different Royals players got on the scoresheet – with Sam Richards and Alex Honour both netting braces.
The Gravity 1 - 7 Creation Builders
Creation Builders continued to build their goal tally and have now scored 12, but only conceded once in the competition. The hunt for a win continues for The Gravity, who drew 2-2 last time out with Fosse City.
Group C
Mowmacre & Hoskins 0 - 5 Birstall Stamford
Birstall Stamford emerged as convincing winners in a dominant display against Mowmacre & Hoskins, remaining unbeaten in the competition.
Group D
East Goscote Roofing 2 - 1 Albion AFC
East Goscote Roofing bounced back from a heavy 8-1 defeat at the hands of Loughborough FC to earn a morale-boosting victory over Albion AFC.
Oadby Owls Mens 2 - 3 FC Loughborough
FC Loughborough maintained their momentum following their 8 – 1 win against East Goscote Roofing as they ground out a 3-2 victory against Oadby Owls Mens – in an entertaining fixture which could have gone either way.
Sunday County League
Group D
Leicester Foxes 2 - 2 St Matthews Dynamos
Neither side could quite do enough to seal the win, as both teams shared the spoils in this exciting 4-goal fixture.
With the score 1-1 at half time, the Dynamos broke the stalemate on the 78th minute to give themselves a goal advantage. This, however, did not last for as long as they would have liked and Leicester Foxes were able to equalise with just five minutes to go.
Spartans 1 - 8 FC Topps
The attacking force of FC Topps was too much for Spartans, who were beaten 8-1 at home by their opponents.
FC Topps now remain unbeaten, and have scored 11 goals and conceded three. Spartans will be hoping to change their fortunes in the next fixture, as they still search for their first point following back-to-back defeats in the County League.
