Leicestershire & Rutland County FA Receive National Equality Award

The County FA has gained the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard for Sport

Leicestershire & Rutland County FA (LRCFA) is delighted to announce that the Association has been successful in gaining the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard for Sport.

 

The Equality Standard is a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from underrepresented individuals, groups and communities. It is based around two broad themes: developing the organisation and developing the services it provides.

 

Prof. Surinder Sharma JP DL, Chair of the Association said: “As a County FA we are delighted to share the news of our accreditation for the Equality Standard for Sport. The Leicestershire and Rutland County FA is proud of its diverse community and as the local governing body for grassroots football, we are firmly committed to equality in all areas of our work and in striving to be representative of the diverse football family. This work has been the under pinning of our development of the associations new four-year strategy that will be released shortly.” 

Joe Dunmore, CEO of the LRCFA commented: “Achieving the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard for Sport is something we are very proud of as an organisation, and we would like to thank our Staff, Board, Council, Inclusion Advisory Group and Members for their support. This builds on the journey we have been going through as an organisation, equality, diversity and inclusion remains a priority in our 24-28 strategy.”

 

LRCFA will shortly publish their Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan for the season as well as welcome a new Discipline Investigations Support Coordinator who will have a specific focus on supporting alleged victims of Discrimination and the educational work to prevent and recognise discrimination happening.
