East Goscote United U13 Vixens Win The Howes Percival Girls U13 Cup
Rugby Borough Girls U13 1-3 East Goscote United U13 Vixens Girls
A brace from Teagan helped East Goscote United secure a thrilling second-half comeback for Darren Foster’s side.
Rugby Borough came into the final in great form, winning their last seven games and scoring 37 goals in the process.
The Vixens also entered the cup final with a rich vein of form, sitting top of the U13 Yellow Division of the Leicestershire Women’s and Girls Football League, and were hoping to make it two successive County Cup final victories after winning the Girls Under 12 final last season.
It was a game of two halves, with Rugby Brough dominating much of the play in the first half and forcing some great attempts on goal.
Borough struck first after seven minutes when Ruby raced through on goal from the halfway line and buried a clever strike into the bottom corner to score her 14th goal of the season.
Rugby came close to doubling their lead before halftime but saw several shots on goal just miss the target.
In the second half, East Goscote came out firing with a point to prove and equalised a minute into the second half thanks to a brilliant flick into the goal from Rosie.
The Vixens took the lead for the first time in the 45th minute after a spectacular long shot from Teagan troubled the Rugby goalkeeper and found the back of the net.
On the hour mark, the constant pressure from East Goscote proved too much for Rugby when Teagan fired a venomous strike in the top corner to secure a 3-1 win against a resilient Rugby Borough side.
With Leicester City Women defender Sophie Howard on hand to assist with the trophy presentation, The Vixens clinched a thrilling victory in the Howes Percival Under 13 Girls County Cup. Now, they're determined to carry this winning momentum forward as they aim to secure the U13 Yellow league title.
East Goscote manager Darren Foster said: “This team never ceases to amaze me with their ability and commitment, and I am so proud of each and every one of them.”
