LRCFA Proud to Support Football v Homophobia 2025

Leicestershire & Rutland County FA are proud to support the Football v Homophobia Month of Action this February.

This February, we are proud to support Football v Homophobia (FvH) Month of Action, a campaign dedicated to tackling discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression at all levels of football.

Football is for everyone. By taking a clear stand against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, we can help make the game a safe and welcoming space for all. Every year, the Month of Action provides an opportunity for clubs, leagues, County FAs, fan groups, and individuals to reaffirm their commitment to challenging anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in the sport.

Get Involved

Throughout the month, we will be sharing content highlighting the importance of inclusion in football and showcasing the actions taken across the region to support the campaign.

We encourage clubs and leagues across Leicestershire and Rutland to sign up on the Football v Homophobia website to become FvH Champions. By doing so, they will gain access to valuable information and resources to help adopt inclusive environments within their teams and communities.

Why It Matters

Jon Holmes, Media Officer for Football v Homophobia, said:“This year, the Month of Action comes just weeks after the FA’s Grassroots Disciplinary Review showed a near 20% increase in reports of homophobic abuse in the grassroots game. There are more proven charges of homophobia at grassroots level than for any other form of discrimination.

“FvH invites the football community across Leicestershire to activate FvH this February and help create welcoming and inclusive environments where players, coaches, and fans can truly enjoy the beautiful game.”

Together, we can drive positive change and ensure that football is truly a sport for all. Stay tuned for our upcoming content throughout February, and let’s work together to remove discrimination from the game we all love.
