Celebrating Our Match Officials: County Cup Final Appointments Evening 2025

Celebrating match officials at our County Cup Final Appointments Evening.

In February, we were delighted to host our Annual County Cup Final Appointments Evening once again, welcoming close to 100 dedicated Match Officials who gathered to learn their appointed finals.

The 2024/25 County Cup Finals programme is set to be our biggest yet, with 24 finals taking place throughout April and May at Holmes Park.

The evening was a fantastic blend of celebration and development for our officials. After receiving their final appointments, attendees benefited from an insightful session delivered by event sponsors Everyone Active

Their masterclass, ‘Preparing to Perform,’ explored how general health and wellness contribute to strong on-field performances.

A highlight of the evening was a talk led by LRCFA and EFL Match Official Ruebyn Ricardo, who shared his journey from grassroots football to the professional game. His inspiring session provided valuable advice for those looking to follow in his footsteps

Following his talk, Ruebyn held a Q&A session, giving officials the opportunity to ask about his experiences and how they can progress in their own refereeing careers.

Nick Evatt, South Leicestershire Active Communities & Wellbeing Manager at Everyone Active, said: "As the local leisure provider for Leicester, we operate many of the leisure centres in partnership with local authorities.

Our goal is to get everyone active and moving, and as part of our commitment to grassroots football, we want to support people in staying active and engaged. Events like this are a fantastic way to promote both physical activity and personal development within the football community."

Chris Hodson, Referee Development Lead, said: The Appointments Evening is one of the standout events in the refereeing calendar within the County. It is a pleasure to recognise and celebrate so many of our dedicated Match Officials.

I’d like to thank Everyone Active and Ruebyn for their time and contributions to the evening, and a huge congratulations to all those who have received finals appointments.

We look forward to welcoming you to Holmes Park next month for what promises to be a fantastic and memorable event.”
